異性愛者またはヘテロセクシュアルは、自分とは異なる性別の人々に性的慕情を感じる個人[1]のこと。特に、女性または男性のいずれかであるシスジェンダーの個人を指すときに、性別二元論における「他方」の性別に性的慕情を経験する人を指します。[2]シスジェンダーであり異性愛者でもある人は、「シスヘテロ」「シスへテ」等と呼ばれることがあります。[1] スプリット・アトラクション・モデル(SAM)において、ヘテロセクシュアルに対応する恋愛指向はヘテロロマンティックです。[3]
