ポリアモリーとは、同意の上で二人以上の人と同時に親密な関係や感情を持つ人、またはそういった慕情のあり方のことです。[2]関係の中にある人の全員がそのことを知り、同意しています。[3]ポリアモリーな関係を持つ人は、必ずしもLGBTQ+ではありません。すなわち、シスジェンダーでヘテロセクシュアルな人も、ポリアモリーな関係であり得ますし、また、全てのLGBTQ+の人がポリアモリーを経験するわけではありません[4]。
コミュニティ[]
ポリアモリーという言葉は、Oberon Zell's Church of All WorldsのMorning Glory Zell Ravenheartが1980年代に考案しました。[5]
ポリアモリー・コミュニティのシンボルpoly parrotは、Ray Dillingerが1997年に作りました。これはalt.polyamory Usenetにて、普及しました.彼はこれを"Parrot Club Mascot"と呼んでいました[6]。インフィニティ・ハートシンボルは、1990年代半ばにBrian Crabtreeが考案し、2000年代から新たなバージョンが作られていきました。これに伴い、poly parrotはあまり使われなくなっていきました。[7][8]
議論[]
ポリアモリーが性的指向の一部であるかについては、議論があります。一部のポリアモラスな人は、一生は続かないライフスタイルや選択であると捉えています。一方で、より内的な欲求のあり方であり、変わらないし変えることのできない、一生続くものであると考えている人もいます。[9][10]。ポリアモリーを「関係に関する指向(relationship orientation)」と考える人もいます[9]
誤解や差別[]
ポリアモラスな関係は多くの政府によって法的な支援を受けられません。そのため、雇用、住居[9][10]、育児権 [10]などに関して、不利益を被ることがあります。アメリカにおいては、二人以上の相手との婚姻が禁止されており、一部の地域では婚姻関係にない成人が同居できる人数に制限がある場合もあります。ただし、近年ではやや改善に向かってはいます[1]。
